Fly540 ✈️
Fly540, officially known as Five Forty Aviation Ltd, was a pioneering low-cost airline based in Nairobi, Kenya. Established in 2006, it commenced operations on November 24, 2006, with its inaugural flight between Nairobi and Mombasa. The airline's name, "Fly540," was inspired by its initial promotional fare of KSh5,540 for a return ticket on this route.
Operating primarily from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Fly540 aimed to make air travel more accessible and affordable within East Africa. Its fleet included aircraft such as the Bombardier CRJ200LR and De Havilland Dash 8 series, suitable for short to medium-haul flights.
Over the years, Fly540 expanded its network to serve various destinations across Kenya and neighboring countries, including South Sudan and Tanzania. However, in November 2022, the Competition Authority of Kenya suspended the airline's operations due to complaints over false advertising, short notice cancellations, and delayed refunds.
